The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), announced on Wednesday that it would honor style icon Kim Kardashian West as the first-ever recipient of the “Influencer Award” at this years show.
The reality star is receiving this award because of her her ability to sell basically any product on social media which she will accept in person in New York next month.
Having 200 million followers across her social media channels, she has became the first utilizer of her social media platform to create a two way dialogue.
Posting this news on Instagram, the 36-year-old star seems pretty happy about the honor as she retweeted it with excitement using love emoji.
Saying her as the most important and powerful influencer in the world in the council’s statement, CFDA board member and designer Tommy Hilfiger said, “Her reach extends far beyond her own brands, every time she wears, posts or talks about a fashion brand, there is an immediate and significant increase in both awareness and sales”.
“The board agreed that Kim was someone who has really impacted the industry and has changed the way brands are presented” said Steven Kolb, the CFDA’s president and chief executive officer, “she’s a friend of a lot of the designers and has had great influence on fashion globally”.
