It’s in Your Head – Shining a Light on Mental Health

‘It’s in your head’ will consist of a series of monologues and live music performances that will look to challenge the perception of mental health as well as raising awareness. ‘It’s in your head’ aims to give people a platform to share their experiences of how their lives have been affected by mental health in a creative and artistic way.
The latest instalment of the event will bring together a group of incredibly talented spoken word artists and musicians from across the UK who will be sharing their personal experiences or simply breaking the taboo that seems to have established itself around the topic of mental health.
Spoken word artists who will be performing at the event include Yusif Tarajia who won the Amnesty International Youth Award for Poetry and Mosaique who, in turn, won the ‘Film Minute’ award. ‘It’s in your head’ will also feature monologue performances by actors with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Donnie Mitchell, who was once the support act for Amy Winehouse, will also be performing as part of the live music part of the event. R&B artist Jade Benjamin and Annie Maguire will also be sharing their thoughts and experiences of mental health through their music.
There will also be food and drink available at the venue. Health professionals will also be on sight to give people advice and guidance.
“It’s in Your Head is an inspirational collection of some of the most creative spoken word artists, talented monologue performances and inspirational acoustic sets all based on and around the theme of mental health,” said Wayne Campbell, founder and producer director of ‘It’s in your Head’.
“If we are able to come together as a community to encourage one another, and share some of our experiences through art and creative expression, we are better placed to create an awareness platform where people can talk and find the support they need to make a difference.”
The event will be taking place on Friday 9 March from 7pm onwards at Gerry’s Bar in Stratford.
