It Seems Will Smith and Diplo are Working on the Official Fifa Song

Will Smith, the rapper known most recently for his acting career, has recorded FIFA World Cup song along with Nicky Jam and Kosovo singer Era Istrefi. It’s also been reported that Diplo produced the track.
There are often multiple musical projects tied to each World Cup. There’s typically an official song, an official anthem, and some promotional tracks as well. The anthem is usually the most high-profile of the bunch, as it’s performed at the tournament’s finale.
In an Instagram post, Smith alluded to the possibility that he might be performing in Russia, too. The song will hit streaming platforms on Friday (May 25) while the FIFA World Cup begins in Russia on June 14.
The 49-year-old Smith is known more for his acting than his musical chops these days. He hasn’t released an album since 2005’s “Lost and Found.” However, he’s certainly proven his ability to make catchy anthems, especially when they’re tied to big projects — think “Men In Black” and “Wild West West.”
Along with the Will Smith song, Jason Derulo and Maluma’s “Colors” — the Coca-Cola anthem — is also expected to be associated with the tournament, which begins June 14.
