Israel Wouldn’t Investigate the Killing of Abu Akleh

Israeli authorities have said that they would not investigate the killing of Shireen Abu Akleh. The family of the late veteran journalist is asking continuously for justice.

Israeli Denial

Israeli authorities are saying that there is no need for any investigation because, according to them, no criminal act took place that day.

Abu Akleh was killed while covering the Israeli military movement in the Jenin refugee camp. According to the reports, she was shot by Israeli snipers. Unfortunately, when she was shot, she had been wearing a press uniform as well as a helmet. That only means, the killing was a calculated one; she was a victim of the politics of Israel.

The Accusation

Instead of investigating, people are accusing each other, and if things continue this way this issue would also get lost with time. People will forget everything because those who can do things are doing nothing but accusing others.

It is very unfortunate that people, media, and politically active individuals act differently if something related to Palestine takes place. The way people relate to the sufferings of Ukraine, as well as criticise Russia, they do not do it to support Palestine and stand against Israel.

The Politics

According to the autopsy reports done by the Palestinian Forensic Medicine, the shot that killed Abu Akleh can only be fired from the places occupied by the Israeli military forces. The narratives of the witnesses also support the reports. But the killing is not just a killing, it is a political statement of Israel–part of the ongoing oppression.

Unfortunately, Abu Akleh was also a US citizen, but there is no pressure from the US administration. This silence only means that if friendly countries like KSA and Israel do something wrong, the US would say nothing because of their business interest. On the other hand, if somehow Russia was involved in the killing, countries like the US and UK would have been noisier because they have no profit supporting countries like Russia.
