Reports recorded the highest daily deaths in India from the new Covid-19 disease on Tuesday. Anika Khan reports.
The data from the health ministry showed that the rate of new infections has slowed from earlier months. However, there has been a surging case in deaths from COVID. More than 1000 people had died in July, taking the total mortalities to over 72,000 in the Indian subcontinent.
On Monday, India surpassed Brazil to become the second country with the most number of COVID-10 cases after the USA with over 5 million cases recorded so far.
The state of Maharashtra is one of the worst-affected regions following by Delhi. The ministry noted that the widespread availability of COVID testing has helped India to fight this disease. With proper testing’s being done, it is possible to know what should be the next necessary actions.
The capital New Delhi and other adjoining areas have fully started to resume operations from this week after five months of restrictions. Bars and shops have opened up to serve the customers without proper safety precautions.
Despite the rise in contamination and deaths, the authorities have been condemned to ease down lockdown and strict measures of social distancing.
Moreover, health experts have warned that the number of cases is much higher in compared to the recorded confirmed cases.
