In Conversation With… Crosslight

Meet Charlotte, Luke, Paddy, Tom, Daniel and Joe, six talented musicians who make up Crosslight, one of the newest bands to emerge from Nottingham.
As a county city, Nottingham has stood tall as a place for original, fresh and invigorating emerging artists. Crosslight have only been together for a few years but they have gone from strength to strength and have acquired a big following. Since 2016 they have put on numerous gigs in the East Midlands and have even shared the stage with other well-known artists such as Black Peaks, Fearless Vampire Killers and Dead! How many bands can say that in their first three years?
Crosslight is Britain’s answer to Evanescence, full of energy, incredible guitar riffs and a front-woman. Crosslight have gained much focus over the past three years as well as attention from people including Kerrangs Alex Baker, Down the Front Media’s Maria Glover. Their debut EP, Road to Recovery, featured in BBC Introducing. For your further musical pleasure listen to Karma, 100,000 Miles as well as Drive On. Interview:
So, how have things been going with you guys this year? 
> Tom has made more stupid noises than ever before! We have also released two new music videos from our album and have released a new EP called Solutions 
Have you had many gigs this year? 
> A fair few, we played Beat the Streets Festival and also supported Skarlett Riot at Rock City and supported A hundred Crowns at the Maze. We held our own EP launch show which was a massive success! 
As a band how’s life been on the road?
> Paddy hasn’t regretted buying a 4×12 cab…yet! Apart from that, we all drive, so any out of town shows we have there is usually at least 4 car convoy! 
The high points? 
> Playing to different people, gaining fans and getting our music out there 
… and low points? 
> Luke. Tom also hates MacDonald’s 
What was the reactions from the audiences there like? 
> We get compliments on our drumstick use and miniature guitars 
So, what can we expect from you later this year? 
> Banging new single, a tasty tour, an incredible slot at Macmillan Fest and a Crosslight Christmas. 
Any collaborations? 
> Got a lot of really talented musicians appear in our EP; Cello, Trumpet and Trombone players with a subtle appearance from mysterious pianist, Dom Biles.
…You’ve been writing, producing music, singing, gigging and touring since 2016, does it surprise you what you’ve accomplished in those two (+) years? 
> Yes, recording and releasing an album and EP in over two is quite an achievement however half of the band are still in drop D. 
As the frontwoman of the band Charlotte how does it feel? 
> Not all heroes wear capes. 
And as a female are you hopeful that it’ll lead to an influx in females in the local/regional music scenes? 
> They’ve always been there but need the vocal recognition.
