Iconic Outfits Worn by Cher, Carol Burnett and More to Set Sail

Julien’s Auction will welcome clothes worn by the likes of Cher, Carol Burnett, Raquel Welch, Lauren Bacall, Julia-Louis Dreyfus and designed by legendary designer Bob Mackie in November.
A special exhibition of Bob Mackie’s work will set sail on the Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic Voyage on 17 November in Los Angeles.
The event, headed by Julien’s auction, will honour Bob Mackie’s accomplishments and effect on the fashion industry.
“Bob Mackie’s five decade long career designing some of the most iconic fashions and looks of all time worn by some of the most glamorous stars in all of Hollywood history has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said Martin Nolan, Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions.
His achievements include winning numerous awards like the TDF Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for theatrical costume design; the “Charlie” (Chaplin) Award for Fashion Arts by the Hollywood Arts Council in 2008; a Design Legend Award and an Honorary Doctorate Degree from Otis College of Art and Design in 2011.
Highlights of the exhibition will include Carol Burnett’s colourful costumes worn on her TV show of the same name, several of Cher’s most iconic, headline-making ensembles from the 1970s, a petal pink satin gown worn by Julia Louis-Dreyfus to the 1998 Emmy Awards and Raquel Welch’s figure hugging nude jersey gown.
In addition to that, Julien’s Auctions and luxury ocean liner company Cunard will take to the high seas with an exclusive auction exhibition of the collection on the Queen Mary 2 in a voyage departing out of London on 19 August, 2018 arriving in New York on 26 August.
On this one, passengers will get the chance to sail with Bob Machie himself and get to know him.
“We are delighted to partner again with Julien’s Auctions, and to welcome legendary costume and fashion designer Bob Mackie aboard our flagship Queen Mary 2 for this very special program experience,” said Josh Leibowitz, Senior Vice President for Cunard North America.
