Hurricane Laura strikes Louisiana, USA

Hurricane Laura hit western Louisiana with a gust of 150mph last night. It has been recorded to be the most powerful hurricane to strike America this year. The damages have been catastrophic and National Hurricane Centre fears condition to worsen in the coming times.

Authorities have placed serious orders for residents especially living around Cameron Parish, the coasts of Louisiana. Hundreds of people have not listened to these evacuation warnings put out on Wednesday. The officials have put out mandatory evacuation orders for over 500,000 residents to nearby shelters. The coastal regions have previously witnessed the wraths of Hurricane Rita back in 2005.

Over 450,000 homes were cut off of electricity from the morning in Texas and Louisiana. Many buildings around Lake Charles have been damaged by the initial impact of the hurricane. The president of the Calcasieu Police Jury said that they have received several help calls from the people who are trapped in the town but are not able to help them.

Forecasters have warned catastrophic waves to follow the hurricane which could be almost 6 meters deep. They predict that the hurricane will move over to Arkansas by tonight, cross the Mississippi valley on Friday and reach the Atlantic states on Saturday.

Officials have warned about hours of catastrophic weather ahead. The extension of damage caused by the Hurricane can only be clear when they can start with the search and rescue mission.
