Hundreds Seek Justice For Amir Locke

Earlier this month, a black man named Amir Locke was shot dead by US police during a raid.

Hundreds of people gathered Friday to mourn for Amir who was 22 years old and demand justice.

Police bodycam video footage shows, a SWAT team entering Amir’s apartment with a special key and  shouting “police, search warrant”.

The SWAT team took only 10 seconds after the entrance to shoot Mr. Amir who had just risen from sleep with a gun in his hand.

The shameful incident has led to many demonstrations across Minneapolis.

Many campaigners and Activists over the world demanded to ban the no-knock search warrant system of police and seek justice for Amir Locke.

They also find similarities between Amir Locke’s death with the unarmed black man George Floyd’s killing.

During Amir’s funeral on Thursday where the Reverend Al Sharpton delivered a powerful eulogy demanding justice.

He said, “Amir was not guilty of anything other than being young and black in America. If they had passed the no-knock law in Minneapolis, we wouldn’t be at a funeral this morning”.

“I stand here to say you are going to pass the Amir Locke law. Enough is enough. We are no longer going to be your nameless suspects,” he added.
