Guillermo del Toro is Creating a Horror Series for Netflix

Guillermo del Toro is reuniting with Netflix to launch the streaming service’s first proper horror anthology project. 10 After Midnight (which is the full official title) will present “a collection of personally curated stories, that are both equally sophisticated and horrific”.
The series will feature episodes written and directed by del Toro, who is also the show’s creator and executive producer. He will be teaming up with his Shape of Water co-producer J. Miles Dale. Although neither an episode count nor premiere date has been announced yet, it is confirmed that del Toro will hand-pick the writers and directors to bring his various original stories to life on the small screen.
The acclaimed director, who is also working on a Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark movie for CBS films, previously created the fantasy series Trollhunters for Netflix, returning with its third and final season on 25 May. That Emmy-nominated show is the first installment of the DreamWorks’ Tales of Arcadia trilogy, which will continue later this year with 3 Below, followed by Wizards in 2019.
Del Toro’s The Shape of Water earned four Oscars this year, including Best Picture, Best Director for del Toro, Best Original Score and Best Production Design.
His previous films alternate between Spanish-language dark fantasy pieces, such as The Devil’s Backbone (2001), and triple Oscar winner Pan’s Labyrinth (2006), and American studio movies such as the vampire superhero Blade II (2002), the supernatural adventures Hellboy (2004) and Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008) and the sci-fi monsters-versus-robots film Pacific Rim (2013).
