Google Accused For Racial Bias Against Black Employees

The world’s largest tech giant company Google has been accused of racial bias to their employees.

A lawsuit was filed on Friday against Google saying, it pushes its black employees to lower-level jobs.

The lawsuit also describes that the company pays the black employees less than the white people, also denies them opportunities to advance.

According to a complaint seeking class-action status said, “Google maintains a racially biased corporate culture that favors white men, where Black people comprise only 4.4% of employees and about 3% of leadership and its technology workforce.”

No comment has been given by Google yet regards this lawsuit.

The issue got attention after the state’s civil rights regulator, the department of fair employment and housing began the investigation of the treatment of black female workers.

Curley a victim said, “Google had hired her in 2014 to design an outreach program to historically Black colleges. Her hiring had proved to be a “marketing ploy”, as supervisors began denigrating her work, stereotyping her as an “angry” Black woman and passing her over for promotions.”

Curley’s lawyer Ben Crump said in a statement, “While Google claims that they were looking to increase diversity, they were undervaluing, underpaying and mistreating their Black employees.”

Many black and Latino people are still facing the same treatment from the tech giant.
