Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe Shot Dead!

The world has woken up to a shocking news of Ex- Prime Minister of Japan being shot dead. He has been assassinated by his own in house made gun. Abe, 67 was campaigning for a parliamentary election in Nara city on Friday morning in Central Japan when he was shot. The security officials have arrested a man in gray T-shirt, named Tetsuya Yamagami, former member of Japan’s Maritime self-defense Force.

Japan’s strict arm laws limits everyone from possessing arms and ammunition. In comparison, US has typically more number of gun causalities than Japan. After the incident, Shinzo Abe was airlifted to a nearby hospital with injuries to his neck and heart. He was announced dead earlier today from blood loss. He was Japan’s longest-running prime minister when he stepped down in 2020, citing poor health condition.

Throughout his career he has been unsuccessful in doing away with the Article 9 of Japan’s Peace Constitution, which renounces war and bars Japan from using or threatening to use military force. His loss is a great loss to the country as well to the world. He has been hailed as the hero of liberal democracy abroad. This is also a case of gun violence which is an extreme rarity in Japan. Also, there has been severe security breach in his assortment.
