Extinction Rebellion: Climate Change Revolution

Scientists, who are concerned about climate, have started a new campaign in demand of passive revolution to fight climate-related challenges.

In Spain, scientists are joined by the protesters of the Extinction Rebellion. They protested in Madrid. Their demand is for real action to be taken on the climate issue.

Extinction Rebellion

Extinction Rebellion or XR, is a worldwide ecological movement. The aim of this movement is to use peaceful disobedience to force the administration to take action to avoid the upcoming climate crisis. The movement is also working to save biodiversity, and limit the risk of societal and environmental collapse.

XR was founded in the UK in 2018. Gail Bradbrook, Roger Hallam, and Simon Bramwell co-found it with 8 others.

Aims

  • Government has to tell the truth, and have to declare a climate-related environmental emergency, along with other organisations to interconnect the earnestness for transformation.
  • Government has to act immediately to stop biodiversity loss and decrease greenhouse gas releases to 0 by the year 2025.
  • Government has to create and be directed by the choices of a national assembly on climate-related environmental justice.

Principles

  • A collective notion of change to create a world for the upcoming generation.
  • To do what is necessary by mobilising people.
  • To build a healthy, strong, and flexible culture.
  • To challenge ourselves, as well as the system.
  • To learn and reflect.
  • To welcome everyone, as well as every part of everybody to develop safer and more reachable spaces.
  • To break the orders of power for impartial participation.
  • To avoid blaming as well as shaming others.
  • To remain non-violent and to use non-violent plans and strategies to bring change.
  • To create structure a structure together to challenge power.

Structure

XR is a decentralised movement with independent groups. They mostly collaborate to bring change. Every independent group is located in different places. Those who are part of the movement follow the principles and act independently.

Organisation and roles

The organisation has a decentralised system. XR respects the values and principles of every group and believes that they can organise the event on their own. There are various groups that arrange the movement and take care of plans too.

Fernando Valladares, one of the climate scientists says that Climate change is real, and is the reason for the deaths of millions of people. The scientists are concerned and have no idea about what other languages they have to tell everyone about the upcoming climate crisis. That is why this non-violent revolt. Scientists from 25 different countries are working together for a change. No one is listening to climate science. That is why the movement to make people aware.
