Extinction Rebellion: 3 Opportunities to Get Involved!

Extinction Rebellion are really stepping up their game. Their protests outside Parliament are quickly gaining infamy, and their movement is growing fast. Although it’s an international movement, with connections even in Australia, they are most active in and around London. Want to get involved? Here are three upcoming events that will be great for beginner rebels!

  1. London Rebellion Extinction March: There is Strength in Grief

When> 12 October 2019 between 14:00-16:00
Where> London, United Kingdom – St James Park London, London, United Kingdom
What> Extinction Rebellion hits the streets to “express our profound grief for Extinction through a unifying march”. It’s an open event, and protestors are encouraged to bring their family and friends. Extinction Rebellion will march alongside sinister black horses, a jazz-funeral band and skeleton puppets to name a few. Protestors are encouraged to bring their own signs, puppets and art. The march will conclude in Russell square, welcomed by an orchestra. The striking dress code is black, white and pink.
“Express yourself in accordance to the mourning rituals of your culture. Start in nature, end in nature. We unite in grief, rage and love for life on Earth.”

When> 13 October 2019 between 13:30-14:30
Where> London, United Kingdom – Horse Guards Parade, London, SW1A 2
What> In the wake of many high-octane protests, this event is a welcome change of pace. Here, protesters will gather for an hour of silence and meditate, ponder and remain connected to their inner well-being.
The Mass Meditation has been organised by both the Cambridge and Buddhist branches of Extinction Rebellion. It is open to meditation beginners and experts alike, who can fully meditate or just engage in simple, silent refection and contemplation. Make sure to bring cushions or chairs if need be!
Extinction Rebellion write that “coming together to do this can be a powerful experience, at this core central public space, where passers-by will see a beautiful and meaningful expression of our love for the earth and all life.”
