EXCLUSIVE: TV & YouTube Star Daniel Mignault on his First Acting Gig

Up-and-coming actor, song-writer, author and YouTube prankster Daniel Mignault has appeared in Spider-Man 3 and, more recently, Star Wars: Vengeance (short). He has just been verified/crowned on musical.ly and has featured on FOX, ABC, NBC and CBS. He spoke to us exclusively about his very first acting gig…

“Since an early age, I was thrown into the acting industry for plenty of reasons, one of which was to become less shy and to step out of my bubble while cracking the shell.

I started acting when I was 8 years old and was going full force forward and not looking back. With all of my hard work and my amazing parents backing me up to always be better, I was able to get picked up by The Kim Dawson Agency.

Being represented by The Kim Dawson Agency was quite an extraordinary experience since they are one of the most premiere and predominate acting and modeling agencies’ in the states.  This is what allowed me to really take on the hardest auditions and the best acting classes in my area which really helped to hone my skills for the craft.

After a couple of months of rigorous training and auditioning, I was booked for my first feature film called ‘Super’, which was directed by James Gunn. I was so ecstatic, nearly jumping off the walls. I couldn’t believe what had just happened. I was going to be an actual actor, and part of a real Hollywood film! The feeling was exhilarating, and I was so taken back by the realization of the whole idea.

The first day I was on set was unlike any other. I saw the props, movie lights, and so many famous actors like Rain Wilson and Kevin Bacon. I couldn’t believe my eyes, and I was so scared and filled with nerves that my body went numb.

Being behind the scenes and on set to watch how everything worked was cool to see. When James was directing, he was very thorough and to the point.  I knew from that point forward, this was all business and it was time to get my game face on.

After hair and make-up which was a very cool experience I was up to bat, and all the cameras were pointed on me. Twenty or more people were behind the scenes, each of which were doing something different.

The amount of nerves that I was feeling now was so immense that I almost lost it. But I was able to hold my cool and perform my character.  Everyone was so happy after the final take and clapped, it was like being part of a huge new family and I couldn’t wait to do it again.”
