Erin Doherty plays Princess Anne in 'The Crown' Season 3

Erin Doherty has signed on to play Princess Anne, the only daughter of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh.
The Crown has been renewed by Netflix for seasons three and four, with the plan for the series to run for six seasons in total and cover the Queen’s entire life. Season three will be set between 1964-1976 when the Queen was well into her 40s and Princess Anne will have aged out of childhood and into adulthood.
In seasons one and two, the show gave an inside look at the early reign of the Queen, with the royal couple being played by Claire Foy and Doctor Who star Matt Smith. However as the series progresses, and time jumps forward, it’s been confirmed that the actors will be replaced, for the cast to reflect the characters’ ages.
Erin Doherty is known for her portrayal of Jessie Marsh on the 1950’s themed hit series Call the midwife and will soon star as Fabienne in an upcoming television adaptation of Victor Hugo’s Les Miserables.
Other new additions to the cast for season 3 include Olivia Colman as the new Queen Elizabeth, Tobias Menzies as the new Prince Philip and Helena Bonham Carter as the new Princess Margaret. Jason Watkins and Ben Daniels have also been cast to play Harold Wilson and Anthony Armstrong-Jones, respectively.
The crown season 2 is now streaming on Netflix. Season 3 is expected sometime in 2019.
