Donald Trump Suggested Spain to Build a Wall across the Sahara

Donald Trump has reportedly urged the Spanish government should construct a wall across the Sahara desert in order to tackle the Mediterranean migration crisis.
Spain’s Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said on Wednesday that Trump made the suggestion during a previous meeting and that the president added, “The Sahara border can’t be bigger than our border with Mexico.”

The Sahara desert is around 3,000 miles wide from east to west, or about 1,000 miles longer than the U.S. border with Mexico. It extends beyond Spain’s borders.
In 2016 election Trump promised voters to build a “big, beautiful wall” across the US/Mexico border, which is roughly 2,000 miles long.
The same plan would not be easy to apply in the Sahara by the fact that Spain holds only two small enclaves in north Africa – Ceuta and Melilla – and such a wall would have to be built on foreign territory.
Spain has found itself at the forefront of Europe’s migration crisis. According to The UN migration ageny more than 33,600 migrants and refugees arrived in Spain by sea so far this year and 1,723 dying in the attempt.
