Brothers Stu and Tim Mather from Widnes are hosting a comedy gig featuring celebrity comedians to raise funds for disability charity Sense whose work supports people with complex communication needs.
Tim’s daughter, who was born with hearing and sight impairment, inspired him to start supporting Sense. Stu works in comedy TV production. Tim’s desire to support the charity and Stu’s contacts have made the celebrity comedy gig possible.
“Sense provides vital support to children and adults with complex communication needs, including those who are deafblind. The work they do struck a chord with us, and we’re delighted to be able to raise money for such a fantastic cause”, said Tim Mather.
“I’m thrilled to be able to put on an evening of comedy to raise money for Sense”, said Stu Mather. “It’s going to be a great night, and to know it’s for such a great cause makes it even more special”.
The brothers are hoping to raise thousands for Sense at the event which will take place in London on 22 Feb and will include the participation of well-known names like Jon Richardson, Josh Widdicombe and Chris McCausland.
It is not the first time the brothers have worked with the charity. Tim ran the London Marathon to raise money for the cause in 2016. Both Tim and Stu will be doing so again this year in an effort to raise more funds.
The celebrity comedy gig will be hosted at 2Northdown at Kings Cross. Ticket Text, who own the venue, have agreed to lend the brothers the space for free as well as donating to the Mather’s London Marathon fundraising efforts.
There is a limited amount of tickets left being sold at a price of £17,50. All the funds raised will be donated to the disability charity Sense.
