California Sued by the U.S. Over Net Neutrality Law

The U.S. is suing California because of the new neutrality law, said the Trump admiration on Sunday.
California’s new net neutrality could guarantee full and equal access to the internet and the principle is known as net neutrality. The justice Department sued California for operating this law.
Jerry Brown, signed legislation to restore internet protections known as net neutrality just hours after the state’s governor signed. The justice department said it would take California to court on grounds that the federal government has the exclusive power to regulate net neutrality.
“Once again the California legislature has enacted an extreme and illegal state law attempting to frustrate federal policy,” Sessions said in the statement.
Consumer advocacy groups mediating the law as offering the strongest internet protections in the country. But the telecommunications industry argued the matter should be left to the federal government and called on Brown to veto the measure.
Jeff Sessions said in a statement that “states do not regulate interstate commerce – the federal government does.”
As the largest economy in the United States and the fifth largest economy in the world, California has significant influence over how other states regulate businesses and even federal laws and regulations.
Telecom companies have rallied against the bill since it was first introduced. The United States Telecom Association in a statement said it agrees net neutrality should be the purview of the federal government. The bill signed by Brown.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement, “Under the Constitution, states do not regulate interstate commerce—the federal government does.”
Mr. Pai said in a statement supporting the Justice Department lawsuit, “The internet is free and open today, and it will continue to be under the light-touch protections.”
The lawsuit claims that California’s approach is “unlawful and anti-consumer.”
