Buckingham Palace is the London residence and administrative headquarters of the monarch of the United Kingdom. The palace is often at the centre of state occasions and royal hospitality. It has been a focal point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and mourning.

Buckingham Palace is one of the world’s few remaining working royal palaces. It has been open to visitors during the summer months for more than 20 years. This year Buckingham Palace is open to visitors from 21 July until 30 September.
The main attractions of Buckingham Palace are:

  • The 19 beautifully decorated State Rooms, used for receiving guests and official functions.
  • The Throne Room – often used as a backdrop for royal wedding photos
  • The magnificent Grand Staircase.
  • The special exhibition, which changes each year.
  • Fine art, including works by Canaletto, Rembrandt and Vermeer.
  • An audio tour by Prince Charles.
