Boris Johnson says he will be informing the European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker that the UK will not be delaying Brexit past the 31 October deadline.
A meeting will be held in Luxembourg today, where the two leaders will be discussing the deal. This is the first time the two will meet since Johnson took on the role of Prime Minister.
The two will be accompanied by the EU’s chief Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier and Johnson will be accompanied by Brexit Secretary Steve Barclay along with David Frost, Downing Street’s Brexit representative.
The meeting will be held due to a law that has been passed by MPs. The law forced the PM to ask the EU for an extension beyond 31 October if a deal has not been agreed by 19 October.
On Sunday the PM told the Daily Mail that on that day the UK will break from its “manacles”, much like “The Incredible Hulk”, whether that’s with a deal or without it.
