Bluedot Festival

Bluedot is an award-winning music, arts and science festival at the Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre near Macclesfield.
This year the festival is returning at 19 July will will run till 22 July ground-breaking programme of live science experiments, music, expert talks and immersive artworks.
Five distinct arenas showcased talks, film screenings, lectures, comedy, debates and a wide variety of interactive and immersive activities such as art installations, robot workshops, a planetarium, the Galaxy Garden, pulsar hunting, graphene making classes and much more.
This year the stellar line-up of music featuring headliners The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips and Future Islands.
A very special performance of Blue Planet in Concert from the world famous Hallé Orchestra is going to happen on the Thursday night. Kicking off the brand new four-day format in style, this remarkable performance will set the theme for the weekend, celebrating the beauty of nature while highlighting the importance of protecting it.
The Planet Field, focuses on ‘spaceship Earth’ and the ways in which we look after the only planet we can call our home. Apart from this, associate Director of the Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics Tim O’Brien, Tamsin Edwards, Alice Eldridge, Dr Sheena Cruickshank, Professor Alice Roberts, physicist and engineer Libby Jackson, biologist and conservationist Professor Dave Goulson, astronaut Suzie Imberand astronomer Stephen Wilkins will be there.
The intention of this festival is to embrace a more sustainable future, organisers have adopted a number of new initiatives, offering audience a chance to offset their carbon footprint with a choice when they buy their tickets, removing the use of plastic straws, plastic containers and plastic cutlery sold from food traders, Providing extensive recycling opportunities, Offering tent collections for charity and more.
This year lineup includes The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Future Islands, Blue Planet in Concert with Halle, Public Service Broadcasting, Gary Numan, Little Dragon, Alice Roberts, Dallas Campbell, Dave Goulson, Stargazing Live Experiments, Expert Panels, Wildlife Explorers, David O’doherty, Cassetteboy, Robin Ince and many more.
