Beyoncé Releases Surprise New Track “Black Parade”

Beyoncé has surprised her fans releasing her new single track “Black Parade” in an honor of Juneteenth. Puza Snighda reports.

The singer released the song on 19 June, a few hours later after she announced on Instagram that she had been working on a new track to support Black-owned businesses.

“Happy Juneteenth Weekend! I hope we continue to share joy and celebrate each other, even in the midst of struggle. Please continue to remember our beauty, strength and power,” Beyonce wrote on her Instagram and added, “‘Black Parade’ celebrates you, your voice and your joy and will benefit Black-owned small businesses.”

The song features powerful lyrics about Black history, police brutality and the George Floyd protests also includes reference the Covid-19 pandemic, is co-written by Jay-Z, as well as longtime collaborators Derek Dixie, Caso and Kaydence.

The track opens with, “I’m going back to the South, I’m going back where my roots ain’t watered down.”

On her website, she said: “Being Black is your activism. Black excellence is a form of protest. Black joy is your right,” she added the message on her website.

The track appeared on streaming services shortly after the star launched Black Parade Route, the website features a directory of Black-owned businesses across industries, from art, to beauty, to restaurants and bars.
