The prominent Beverly folk festival that brings color and music to its historical streets, shockingly announced their cancellation for this year with the news that they’re unable to refund people who’ve bought tickets in advance of the June festival.
Starting in 1984, this festival was set to return to Beverley Racecourse for a sixth time in June. Advance weekend tickets had been on sale costs £130 for the weekend with camping or £110 for the weekend without camping.
The non-profit-making organization said they’ve lost their primary source of funding and do not have the money to pay for either the infrastructure or the performers.
“We are deeply disappointed that this event will not go ahead and sympathize with everyone who has bought tickets and may be left out of pocket” wrote Beverley Racecourse’s host on their social media.
The directors acknowledge that for almost 35 years Beverley Folk Festival has brought something special to the town, which was loved and enjoyed by so many people from far and wide.
“It is a great shame that this long-established and much-loved festival will not be held this year,” offering their deepest and most sincere apologies to those owed money the director said, “Beverley Folk Festival was enjoyed by thousands of people and boosted the local economy and the profile of Beverley, so it will be sorely missed.”
