Bangladesh tastes their first T20 victory over India, in India by seven wickets last Sunday, after eight consecutive losses in the T20 international against India previously.
Bangladesh also listed their name on the record book to their maiden win against India in the 1000th T20 international match of ICC.
Mushfiqur Rahim with his unbeaten 60 run from 43 balls, becomes the player of the match.
Under polluted weather conditions in New Delhi, India throws the target 149 runs to the Tigers in 20 overs in which Shekhar Dhawan scored 41 runs from 42 balls.
Aminul Islam and Shafiul Islam both took 2 wickets each for Bangladesh.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh lose the wicket of Liton Das in the very first over, but Soumya and Mohammad Naim handled the situation very nicely with a 46-run partnership.
After Naim’s dismissal, Mushfiqur Rahim took the charge of the tiger’s and with his unbeaten 60, Bangladesh finished the match in a matured style with 3 balls remaining.
Mushfiqur said in the post-match press conference, “We have come here to compete in each and every game. As long as you are playing consistent cricket and improving in each game – that is our main goal. After winning this game we are surely looking forward to winning another game, hopefully, the next game”.
“We won, but there are a couple of areas we can improve in. If we improve in those areas and play much better than what we did tonight then I think there is nothing impossible in the next game. We will try our level best to compete against India,” added Mushfiqur.
Indian Captain Rohit Sharma said, “Not to take credit away from Bangladesh. They put us under pressure right from the start when we were batting. It was a defend-able score, and we made mistakes on the field. The guys are a bit inexperienced, and they can learn from that, perhaps not make them the next time”.
The Second T20 of the three-match series between both teams will be on 7 November at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, Gujarat.
