Ballon d’Or red carpet: Where daring fashion reigned supreme

Football players are not typically known for their fashion sense, but when it comes to a formal event like the Ballon d’Or, you’d expect a certain level of sartorial sophistication. However, that’s not always the case. Now, without further ado, let’s take a closer look at some of the most unconventional fashion choices witnessed at the 2023 Ballon d’Or.

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham won the Raymond Kopa award as the world’s best young player, but his outfit was almost a trip hazard. His double-breasted blazer was the only saving grace.

Vinicius Jr

Vinicius Jr’s red satin blazer was a bold choice, but at least he had coordinated his shoes and belt.

Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappé, third-place Ballon d’Or finisher, looked out of sorts in his grey suit. If he does leave PSG in the summer, let’s hope he avoids teams that wear grey.

Djibril Cisse

Djibril Cisse’s outfit is so outlandish, it’s almost perfect. It’s as if he missed the memo that Paris Fashion Week was earlier this month.

Iran Ferreira

Let’s start with the fact that Speed narrowly escaped making the list of fashion faux pas, and we can all agree it’s thanks to those remarkable shoes. Then there’s TikToker Iran Ferreira, whose suit almost seemed to camouflage with the red carpet. Nevertheless, they managed to pay homage to Cristiano Ronaldo with their celebratory style.

Sara Arfaoui

Ilkay Gundogan and his wife Sara Arfaoui looked stunning at the Ballon d’Or awards, with Gundogan in a sharp dinner suit and Arfaoui in a dazzling lace dress.

Rainer Muller

Another man who shunned the traditional dinner suit in favor of something different was Rainer Muller, partner of Arsenal and Sweden defender Amanda Ilestedt. However, his outfit was not as successful as he may have hoped.

Gabrielle Lemaire

Didier Drogba rarely gets upstaged, but his partner Gabrielle Lemaire stole the show on the red carpet in a daring sheer dress.

Julien Schwarzer

French singer Julien Schwarzer and Djibril Cisse competed for the most outlandish outfit on the red carpet. Schwarzer’s bold look might have won out if he had changed his hair color.

Agus Gandolfo

Lautaro Martinez’s partner Agus Gandolfo wowed the red carpet in a see-through green dress that left little to the imagination.
