Ashes 2019: Ben Stokes Miracle Keep Ashes Alive

Ben Stokes produced his second ‘Once in a lifetime’ performance this year after the world cup final and his mighty century helps England to gain an unexpected one wicket victory against Australia at Headingley to keep the Ashes alive.
Stokes made an unbeaten 135 which left England in a place where they could chase the record 359 run in the second innings of the third Ashes test.
Ben Stokes with Jack Leach scored an unbroken 76 runs partnership in the final wicket which was not seen before in recent years.
Stokes last wicket partner Leach scored only one run which is the one that leveled the score.
Stokes hit total 8 sixes and 11 fours during his innings which is now claims as the greatest innings of all time.
The talented all-rounder said he was “over the moon” after compiling a career-defining knock.
“In terms of where we were at in the Ashes series, I’m obviously over the moon that we’ve managed to stay in the series. We knew if we lost this game then the Ashes were gone. To be sat here, especially after getting bowled out for 67, to still be in with a chance of getting the urn back is an amazing feeling. Walking off there at the end was a time to take everything in and realize what we’ve just done as a team, not as an individual”.
English Captain Joe Root said, “We’ve witnessed some incredible things this summer and I wouldn’t have expected to see something else so similar after the World Cup. I can’t put into word what Ben has done out there. He’s shown you should never give up while you’re still in the game”.
Australia had two chances to gain the victory while England were one run behind, but could not utilize the momentum.
Aussie captain Tim Paine said, “It’s hard to take, but you’ve got to tip your hat sometimes. Ben Stokes played a great innings and you’ve got to hand it to him. It’s probably the best Test innings I’ve ever seen”.
Now the series is level with two matches to play. The fourth test will start on 4th September at Old Trafford.
