The year 2022 is going to have some amazing events around the world. Don’t forget to visit them.
Irish Cultural Centre
For anyone who is visiting London and is looking for some Irish culture and music, the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith is definitely a place to visit. The center, which covers many different cultural aspects, is managed by William Foote, a native of Bangor in Co. Down. As a former resident of Bangor myself, it is always a pleasure to catch up with William, as we have mutual friends and a lot of common ground. In recent years, it has been great to promote the Centre and its events on WhatsOn and I look forward to this relationship continuing. Legend Of Luke Kelly
Shortly before Christmas, the Irish Cultural Centre hosted a visit to England by my good friend, Chris Kavanagh. Chris, accompanied by his group The Patriots (including his wife, Hilary, a talented artist and musician in her own right), not only sings the songs of the famous member of The Dubliners but even bears a physical resemblance to him. (On one occasion, someone whom I was telling about Chris, looked up his website while we were talking. His response was, “****! He does look like him!”) Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to be there in person but by all accounts, it was a very enjoyable evening, with a sell-out crowd. Chris and the Patriots play regularly in various parts of Ireland and he and I are now working on plans to bring the show back to England in October, supported by a short set entitled “From Belfast To Dublin,” performed by myself. For anyone who wants to hear the songs of the great Luke Kelly (one of my own favourite folk singers)performed with sincerity and conviction, this show is a must. Please check out Chris’s website and Youtube to hear more.
