Sondra Locke, the Oscar-nominated actor and former partner of Clint Eastwood who made six movies dies at 74.
The actor died 3 Nov at her home in Los Angeles of cardiac arrest stemming from breast and bone cancer, according to her death certificate, which was obtained by the Associated Press. It took almost six weeks to report but the reason is unclear why it delayed.
Locke was famous because she made six films with Eastwood whom she dated for 13 years. Their professional association began with the western The Outlaw Josey Wales in 1976 and ended with the Dirty Harry movie, Sudden Impact, in 1983.
The couple never had any children. According to a source Locke once claimed that Eastwood forced her to get two abortions during the course of their affair. She was also said to have gotten “her tubes tied” because Eastwood allegedly didn’t want children, though she reportedly later discovered that he’d fathered two kids with another woman while they’d been together.
In her long career, Locke starred in movies like 1977’s The Gauntlet, 1980’s Bronco Billy, and 1983’s Sudden Impact — in all of this her boyfriend starred. Her last film role was in 2017’s Ray Meets Helen, in which she starred alongside actor Keith Carradine.
She was nominated for an Academy Award for best actress in a supporting role in the 1968 movie The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter.
