The heat is on: poll reveals climate change is considered more of an issue than ever

HOPE not hate, a prominent anti-fascist and anti-racist protest group, commissioned a poll that reveals what many could already guess: climate change is finally starting to worry the world.
The group commissioned the study after deciding that the climate change crisis will have a “huge” impact on institutional racism and the class system.
On their Twitter account (@hopenothate), they outline their most dramatic findings. They surveyed 8 countries and found that:
> At least 75% of the public think “the world is facing a ‘climate emergency’, with climate change at risk of becoming ‘extremely dangerous’”. They consider this issue more important than other issues, such as terrorism or migration.
> In every country surveyed, the majority of the public would support government initiatives to tackle global warming, including using more green energy and investing in clean industries.
> There is significant support for cutting emissions and phasing out fossil fuel use. 55% of Britons support this.
These findings come just before the global climate strike set to commence tomorrow, where millions will take to the streets to protest the inaction of our leaders during this immense crisis.
Greta Thunberg has gathered support in Europe and the US, setting the strike on track to be one of the biggest climate change strikes in history. To an audience in Washington, D.C., she said: “Activism works. So, what I’m telling you to do now, is to act. Because no one is too small to make a difference. I’m urging all of you to take part in the global climate strikes on September 20th and September 27th.”
