Whitsundays Shark Attack: Two Injured

A woman and child have been attacked by a shark at Catseye Beach on Hamilton Island, in the Whitsundays, Queensland, around 9:00am on Thursday.
The incident occurred in at popular tourist hot spot, when the woman with her grand daughter were having fun in the shallow water according to an ambulance spokesman. Resort Drive at Hamilton Island reported the incident about 9.29am.
They immediately rush to hospital after the have been attacked. The 10 years old young girl has injury to her foot and toe and the 60 years old woman is suffering from a leg injury.
The two are admitted in Hamilton Island Medical Centre, were treated by paramedics. The girl has been transferred to Proserpine Hospital for further treatment to a bite to her foot.
“Hamilton Island can confirm a child and an adult sustained lacerations from a shark less than one metre long, during an incident off Catseye Beach this morning,” said a spokesperson from Hamilton Island.
“Both were treated at the Hamilton Island medical centre prior to being medivaced to the mainland for further care.”
It comes after Victorian man Daniel Christidis, 33, passed on in November subsequent to being chomped by a shark at Cid Harbor amid a trek with companions and partners.
That occurrence pursued separate assaults on Tasmanian lady Justine Barwick and Victorian Hannah Papps, 12, inside 24 hours in September.
However, the young girl and her grandmother are now in stable condition.
