8TH Bangladesh Book Fair just colcluded at Kolkata

As a part of cultural and political co – operation between Bangladesh and India, Bangladesh Book Fair kicked-off in Kolkata. The fair inaugurated on 2nd November in Mohor Kunja premises, located in the west of Kolkata’s cultural hub Rabindra Sadan. On this occasion many Bangladeshi dignitaries were present in the event of the inauguration of the book fair.
For the first time in the year 2011, the Bangladesh Book Fair started in Kolkata. This year, about 44 bookstores and several prominent publishers of Bangladesh were present in the fair.
In the Fair arena Bangladeshi people organized several cultural events, including cultural programmes, that highlighting Bangladeshi folk traditions. The cultural programme held in the evening of the fair, where both artists of India and Bangladesh were participated .
Bhasa O Chetona Samiti was the cultural partner of the whole book festival . Mr. Emanul Haque, President of this organization said” this type of cultural exchange can improve the heritage of two neighbouring countries”.
Academy and Creative Publishers’ Association of Bangladesh has organised the 8th edition of the book fair in association with Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau under the supervision of Bangladesh deputy high commission in Kolkata and Creative Publisher Committee and the West Bengal government features 60-70 Bangladeshi publishing houses that have crossed the border from Bangladesh into Kolkata to showcase their wares and collections…
Just to say that this is a small flare of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela that generally it happens in Dhaka, capital of Bangladesh every February, for the entire month.
Bangladesh’s finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith inaugurated the event and told to the media that an initiative was underway as a part of which poets from West Bengal and Bangladesh will collaborate to write a book. Member,Mayor-In-Council, Kolkata Municipal Corporation Mr.Debashish Kumar was also present at the opening ceremony.
Bangladesh Deputy high commissioner in Kolkata Towfique Hasan presided over the programme.
A visitor to the book fair said such initiatives and encouraging fair help to fulfill the gaps created by borders and make a bridge of peace and a healthy cultural relations between India and Bangladesh.
The collection of poems by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore and poet Nazrul Islam were a special collection of this fair….
The book fair attracted book lovers from around the world. The fair continued from 2nd November to till 11th November. With pulling in huge bibliophiles every day, the eight-day Bangladesh book fair on the Rabindra Sadan premises in Kolkata came to an end on Sunday.
