A bus traveling from Paris to London has overturned in northern France near to Peronne in its way which injured 33 people including 10 British citizens.
Injuring 5 passengers seriously, the Flixbus crashed on Sunday morning near Amiens on the A1 motorway which is the busiest route of France. The rest of the passengers suffered minor injuries and taken to different hospitals in the region.
The bus was also carrying 11 people from France, five from the US, two from Romania, and one from Spain, Australia, Mauritius, Japan and Sri Lanka.
The local gendarmerie tweeted pictures from the scene which shows a messed up windscreen and a large hole in its side, the toppled transport lying by the side of the street.
Jamie Kerr and Gemma Given, both 20 and from Northern Ireland, were treated for head and hand injuries after being involved in the crash.
“Pretty traumatic end to a Halloween weekend,” said John Kerr, Kerr’s father.
“I feel a bit more could have been done for them,” he said. “I’m expecting an emotional response when they get home.”
According to local police, 10 British citizens were on board as well as citizens of nine other nations. The nationality of those seriously hurt is not known.
“FlixBus is in close contact with the relevant authorities in order to determine the exact cause of the accident and to ensure all passengers receive appropriate support,” said a spokesman.
The site of the crash was closed as emergency services including police, ambulances and the fire brigade rushed to the scene, and normal traffic followed soon before 1 pm.
