11 People Killed in Pittsburgh Shooting

The 11 people of the Pittsburgh synagogue shot dead after a gunman armed with an assault rifle and at least three handguns opened fire there on Saturday morning. Six more people were injured in what authorities said was a hate crime targeting the city’s Jewish community.
The synagogue shooting victims included eight men and three women and ranged in age from 54 to 97 and included brothers and a husband and wife. They came from all three congregations that were meeting at the synagogue that morning.
The crime is being treated officially by Authorities as a hate crime, U.S. attorney for the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania said Sunday though he added: “We continue to see where that line is.” The suspect, Robert Bowers, was charged with 29 federal crimes including 11 counts of murdering victims exercising their religious beliefs. He faces the death penalty.
“During the course of his deadly assault on the people of the synagogue, Bowers made statements regarding genocide and his desire to kill Jewish people,” Brady said.
“They’re committing genocide to my people. I just want to kill Jews.” Bowers told a a police officer after being shot and captured, according to a federal criminal complaint released Sunday.
