The world record winner Masazo Nonaka, world’s oldest living man had his last breath at the age of 113 in Japan, on Sunday morning.
Masazo Nonaka was in northern main island of Hokkaido with his family and dies peacefully from natural causes while he was sleeping. Yuko Nonaka, his granddaughter has confirmed the news to the local media.
The Nonaka family doctor declared him dead after checking.
Nonaka was born in July 25, 1905 and won the Guinness World Records certificate and titled by Ashoro in April 2018 as the world’s oldest living man at 112 years and 259 days.
“We feel shocked at the loss of this big figure. He was as usual yesterday and passed away without causing our family any fuss at all,” said Yoko to the media.
“He didn’t have any health problem. He went peacefully and that’s at least our consolation.”
Nonaka
Nonaka grew up in a large family and succeeded his parents running the inn which is now running by his granddaughter Yuko.
According to the Guinness World Records, he spent his retirement reading newspapers, eating sweets and cakes, and watching TV, particularly sumo wrestling.
Nonaka has seven siblings, got married in 1931 and he was the father of five children.
Japan has one of the world’s highest life expectancies and was home to several people recognised as among the oldest humans to have ever lived.
After the death of Spaniard Francisco Nunez Olivera last year, Guinness officially recognised Nonaka as the oldest living man.
