Metal music in Bangladesh has seen a powerful evolution, shaped by countless bands and individuals who brought their unique sound, passion, and energy to the forefront. Among these pioneering forces is Warsite, a band that began without any grand plans or expectations. What started as a spontaneous decision by a few friends to form a band back in 2009 has since transformed into a musical powerhouse, known for its bold sound and unapologetic passion.
Warsite was never about fitting in—it was about waging a lyrical war through music against everything that silences the truth. Our music isn’t just sound; it’s rebellion, resilience, and the voice of those who refuse to be ignored.
— Syed Rayhan Kawsar, founder of Warsite
The founder of Warsite, Rayhan, the vocalist and lyricist of the band, whose journey in music began long before the band’s official formation. Warsite’s story is one of pure passion and spontaneity. The formation of the band was anything but planned—what began as a casual jam session among friends soon grew into something far greater than they had anticipated. A lot of changes took place over time. Eventually, the current lineup, Tanvir Ahmed Shaon (drummer), Saayem Jayed (guitarist), and Minhaz Badhon (bassist) became part of the journey, each contributing their own influence and energy to shape the band’s identity.
The name ‘Warsite‘ itself reflects the band’s rebellious nature and their desire to embrace the power and intensity of a lyrical war full of emotions against oppression, injustice, and personal demons, forging anthems of resistance, resilience, and raw truth through blistering riffs and unfiltered expression. According to Rayhan, they chose the name because of the band’s rebellious spirit and their affinity for the concept of war against social anomalies. It symbolizes their drive to challenge norms and create something bold.
Their first track, “Dushito Shotta” was released in 2009, marking the start of a musical adventure that would take them to stages and into the hearts of metal fans.
Over the years, Warsite has released 18 tracks, each marking a significant step in their evolution as musicians. The band released its first full-length album “Juddher Chorus” consisting of 10 songs back in 2016. The band featured Bassbaba Sumon from Aurthohin in the album in a track named “Aurthohin.” Even the launch event of the album was a historic one, where 50 bands from the industry took part.
Warsite’s most famous tracks “Krodh,” “Obhishap,” “Juddher Chorus,” and “Bidrohi,” showcase the band’s distinctive sound, which blends raw emotion with elements of heavy metal. While Warsite is often associated with metal, their music doesn’t strictly adhere to one genre. The band embraces a diverse range of styles, incorporating the varied musical tastes of all its members. This collaborative approach to songwriting has allowed Warsite to experiment and fuse different influences, creating a sound that is uniquely their own.
Warsite’s journey has not been without its challenges. Over the years, the band has faced the ups and downs of the metal scene in Bangladesh, a scene that once flourished but has struggled to keep up with the rise of other genres. Despite encountering criticism and the evolution of the scene, the band has stayed focused on what truly matters, maintaining their unique sound and creative vision. Their decision to wear masks on stage, which was initially met with skepticism, exemplifies their rebellious spirit. Rather than yielding to negativity, Warsite has embraced their individuality and forged their own path.
The metal scene in Bangladesh has shifted over the years, with the genre facing difficulties in competing with others. However, Warsite has remained undeterred, pushing boundaries with arrogancy and staying true to their distinct identity, without compromise.
Despite these hurdles, Warsite continues to push forward with renewed energy. They’re preparing to release a surprise single with a music video soon, followed by their highly anticipated second studio album. The new album will introduce a fresh sound, something their listeners haven’t heard from them before, teasing exciting changes fans can expect.
The band will continue to contribute to their upcoming projects, and they are excited to share more music in the coming months. The whole team emphasized that their work has always been driven by passion rather than the desire for mainstream success. “It’s about the love for what we do, not following what’s popular,” Shaon says.
For Warsite fans, the next few years promise to be full of surprises, new music, and a reinvigorated energy in the metal scene. The road ahead may be uncertain, but with their unwavering passion, Warsite is sure to leave an indelible mark on the metal world.
