UK Police have arrested more than 100 climate change protesters for blocking roads in central London amid protests which brought the capital to a standstill.
Thousands of people blocked four famous landmarks – Waterloo Bridge, Marble Arch, Parliament Square and Oxford Circus, on Monday to demand urgent action over the escalating weather crisis.
Thousands of people joined the protests and campaigners from the Extinction Rebellion group parked a pink boat at Oxford Circus and blocked a number of roads.
West End remained blocked as the rush hour approached and transport for London warned that some roads in Westminster.
113 arrests in total in connection with the demonstrations in a statement at 6am today said Scotland Yard.
The majority of the arrests have been for breaching the order educating protesters to stay handiest at Marble Arch.
Five of those arrested, 3 men and women, were held on suspicion of criminal damage after protesters vandalised Shell’s headquarters on Monday.
The blockades persisted for the duration of the day but as night time fell officers started to arrest people on Waterloo Bridge if you want to clear it.
