Varying rules for meeting outside will apply throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Tara Pilkington brings you the latest.
The prime minister announced on Thursday 28 May that groups of up to six people could meet outdoors in England from Monday. In this briefing he also set out the next stage in the easing of restrictions.
Here’s what you need to know:
- From Monday, groups of up to six people will be allowed to meet in gardens and other private outdoor spaces. However, Johnson did say that people should try to avoid seeing others from too many households in quick succession.
- From today, people in Scotland from one household will be able to meet with another household outdoors in public spaces or a private garden, providing they maintain physical distancing.
- In Wales, people in a household will be able to meet with one other household outdoors from Monday.
- In Northern Ireland, the Stormont executive plans to confirm its lockdown relaxation after a meeting on 4 June, but it is expected to allow small outdoor wedding ceremonies, attended by no more than 10 people.
- The UK government has said the science makes it clear the chances of spreading coronavirus is much smaller outside so socialising inside is not allowed.
- While people in England are permitted to travel as far as they want to take exercise and spend time outside, they cannot stay over at people’s houses.Â
