In the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Donald Trump’s direct rejection of the ideology of globalism and praise on his own administration’s achievements drew ridiculous laughter from his audience of fellow world leaders.
He poured scorn on the ideology of globalism, urged other nations to reject globalism and embrace patriotism by saying “America is governed by Americans,” Trump said. “We reject the ideology of globalism and we embrace the doctrine of patriotism.”
He said “Today I stand before the United Nations General Assembly to share the extraordinary progress we’ve made”.
He also said his administration has “accomplished more than ‘almost’ any other administration in the history of our country” which draws headshakes and even mocking laughter.
Mr Trump smiled at the interruption, before commenting on it. “I didn’t expect that reaction but that’s okay,” he said, but he was clearly not OK. Trump is said never to forgive or forget those who laugh at him.
He said a global migration crisis can be resolved by making every country “great again.” The US would not sign onto a global migration pact, saying individual nations should instead set their own policies.
President Trump told world leaders on Tuesday “we are systematically renegotiating broken and bad trade deals.”
Citing his bids to renegotiate trade deals around the world, Trump said during an address at the United Nations that “many nations in this hall will agree the world trading system is in dire need of change.”
Singling out China for its trade abuses and theft of US intellectual property, Trump said “we will no longer tolerate such abuse.”
“We will not allow our workers to be victimized, our companies to be cheated,” Trump said.
President Donald Trump on Tuesday castigated Iran for sowing “chaos, death and destruction” in the Middle East and urged other countries to join the US in resuming economic pressure on the Iran.
Trump also emphasized the need for strong borders and implied that the solution to migration was helping people build better communities in their home countries so that they could “make their countries great again.”
