The Incredibles 2 Has Shattered Box Office Records

The Incredibles 2 has shattered both box office records and expectations with an opening weekend of $182 million. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2004 movie has easily outdone the previous record holder; Finding Dory, another Pixar film grossing $135 at its own opening weekend.
Incredibles 2 has also become the 8th best opening of all time and the best debut for a PG movie ever. According to the-numbers.com; “Incredibles 2 earned top spot on the theater average chart with an impressive average of $41,426. Only two other wide releases have started with bigger averages: Infinity War and Black Panther.”
Pixar continues to impress with yet another A+ from CinemaScore, the seventeenth in the studio’s history since their first theatrical movie in 1995. Critics and movie-goers alike have welcomed the movie warmly with an 8.4 on IMDB and a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The Incredibles opened to critical acclaim in 2004; winning two Oscars and earned $633 million worldwide. Today it has an 8.0 on IMDB, an A+ on CinemaScora and a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.
With a 14-year gap between the two movies and a strong on-going love for the original, it is no surprise that anticipations were high for the sequel. The result of these anticipations is indeed very promising. However, only time will tell for us Brits as the movie isn’t due in our own theatres until the 13th July 2018.
