Temporary

Author: Hilary Leichter

Hilary Leichter’s debut novel is relatable because it defines a situation millennials are all too familiar with: working temp jobs and dying on the inside. Leichter’s protagonist trudges through the mundane and then hilariously trips into temp jobs requiring emotional detachment bordering on the absurd. What could easily become a sad tale of how the gig economy has sapped the personal out of our lives, is a sardonic narrative about how we’ve come to view all our activities through the lens of gain and loss. It’s the perfect read for right now when we’re forced to pause and objectively view our priorities.
