Taylor Swift’s new album “Lover”, released on August 23, features the song “It’s Nice To Have A Friend” which is helping to fund a school by sampling youth singer.
Producer Frank Dukes has confirmed that along with Taylor Swift, Louis Bell has sampled and produced Toronto’s Regent Park School of Music. The royalties from the sale of the song the sample go directly to the school, which furnishes kids in Toronto with quality music instruction.
The youth star sings backup and plays different kinds of instruments including a steel pan, harp, organ, vocals, strings, and horns.
The original sample is called “Summer In The South” from the album Parkscapes.
“We made it so that the proceeds from the sales of the library go to fund the school,” saying this Dukes added, “Beyond that when it gets sampled, money from sample clearances and the royalties which could be long-standing and pretty significant overtime would go and sustain the program.”
He also said, “It became this really amazing thing. Spending time with the kids who were a part of the program, it was really inspiring for me to see how having them become a part of something where they really felt engaged and inspired helped open up their eyes to see how big the world is. That if they really want something they just have to do it and they can get it and it’s all within reach.”
The song is available through the Dukes’ Kingsway Music Library.
