Tahsan Talks

WhatsOn Asia Guide 2019 Summer Out Now and Tahsan Rahman Khan was the Cover Star. Juthy Saha chats to the ground-breaking singer.

The multi-talented Tahsan has risen to the top of the music industry. His passion and dedication have led him to become a very successful singer and even renowned actor.
Having spent much of his childhood on the Dhaka University campus with his mother, a professor, he later went on to graduate from there. He started his music lessons at the age of six with Shishu Academy and then continued with Chhayanaut.
Tahsan’s music career kick-started as a member of “Black Band” while he was a student. Later, he parted ways with this Band, as his real love was for softer music. His soulful songs have already garnered fans who wanted more from him as an individual artist.
Talking about obstacles he faces, he said: “So far people don’t consider the music industry as an anticipated sector of work as the success rate is very low. I took the toughest decision when I quit my corporate job from Unilever Ltd.” He also ignores negative criticism and now has an incredibly successful singing career.
Tahsan is a symbol of love for the younger generation. Many loyal fans follow him and watch as he performs his songs at National and International competitions. Songs such as ‘Prematal’, ‘Bintu tumi’ and ‘She Je Boshe Ache’ have particularly connected with audiences.
Building his career on playback singing, Tahsan has also presented many big events such as Lux Channel I Superstar and Shera Kontho. While asked about playback singing, the singer discloses “at our time doing playback singing was not appreciated so much. But with courage, I did title song of “Chuye Dile Mon” and won awards, has changed the scenario”.
Recently, Tahsan has debuted in the movie named “Jodi Ekdin” in starring role. He is “hopeful about this unconventional family drama to bring about positive change”.
As part of his greater achievements, he has gained many National and International awards for both music and acting, such as the “Meril Prothom Alo” Award as Best Male Singer. Regarding awards, he says, “The best award is people’s love rather than the awards. I am blessed with the audiences’ love”.
On top of all this, the singer has recently been blessed with a baby girl named Ayra Tehreem Khan with whom he loves to spend most of his spare time.
Tahsan envisions a world where breaking into the music industry is easier for the next generation. To enrich the entertainment industry, his suggestion to upcoming singers is to “rather than only run after fame, pay full attention to positive content to be happy”.
