“Breaking news: Lindsey Buckingham is out but I’m not in. A little pissed off but I’ll get over it,” posted last time he left the band 31 years ago.
The group coheadlined with the Eagles the “Classic West” and “Classic East” festivals in Los Angeles and New York, respectively. The dates landed smack in the middle of a tour by Buckingham and Mac.
“It harmed the 43-year legacy that we had worked so hard to build,” he said of the group’s decision, “and that legacy was really about rising above difficulties in order to fulfill one’s higher truth and one’s higher destiny.”
In the original announcement that revealed Buckingham would be kicked out of the band, Fleetwood Mac cited scheduling conflicts that would’ve pushed the timeline back a year and a half, though Buckingham said that isn’t entirely true.
