At the dear age of 94, Sir David Attenborough has broken Jennifer Aniston’s record for the fastest time to reach a million followers on Instagram. Ingrid Cox reports.
Representatives for Guinness World Records have confirmed he is the new record holder after the naturalist’s follower count reached seven figures in just 4 hours and 44 minutes.
The broadcaster has joined Instagram in a bid to spread awareness about climate change and to share his environmental message.
His debut post comes before the release of his upcoming Netflix documentary ‘A Life on Our Planet’, which will be available to stream in early October.
“As we all know, the world is in trouble. Continents are on fire. Glaciers are melting. Fish are disappearing from our oceans. The list goes on and on. But we know what to do about it,” Attenborough shared in his post.
“Over the next few weeks, I’ll be recording messages to explain what the problems are and how we can deal with them. Join me – or as we used to say in the early days of radio, stay tuned.”
The documentary will reflect on Attenborough’s career and defining moments in his life as a naturalist. ‘A Life on Our Planet’ aims to reveal the first-hand account of our impact on nature and shares a message of hope for the future.
