Scientology Volunteer Ministers to Celebrate World Humanitarian Day

World Humanitarian Day is celebrated all over the world annually on August 19th to honor all of the humanitarians who have tirelessly worked to further and promote a variety of humanitarian causes. The purpose of this celebration is to raise the public’s awareness about humanitarian assistance activities that occur all over the globe and the importance of countries coming together to solve the world’s problems.
This year Scientology Volunteer Ministers is hosting World Humanitarian Day Event at the Church of Scientology of Tampa to Increase public awareness about vital humanitarian activities and the importance of international cooperation.
The event will feature awards Presentation to the community heroes, hear personal stories from community heroes, a session to find way out how to help one’s community to make world a better place. It also offer free food to the guest.
The Volunteer Minister program was launched more than thirty years ago, in response to an appeal by Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard which works for many social awareness program all over the world.
World Humanitarian Day was established in 2008 by the United Nations General Assembly and was first officially celebrated in 2009. The date of 19th August was chosen as it marks the anniversary of the bombing of the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, an event in which the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Sergio Vieira de Mellothe and twenty others lost their lives.
Each year a different theme is chosen for World Humanitarian Day, for example, in the past, the themes have included ‘We Are Humanitarian Workers’ and ‘One Humanity’. Organisations worldwide honour this day in a range of ways from fundraisers to lectures and other events all aimed at raising awareness.
