Sajek valley is famous for its outstanding natural beauty and known as the Queen of Hills & Roof of Rangamati. The valley is surrounded by mountains, dense forest and grasslands hilly tracks. Many small rivers flow through the mountains among which Kachalong and Machalong are notable. The road to Sajek has high picks and falls. One can feel cloud, you can touch cloud and you can watch beauty of nature very closely.
The valley is 1800 feet above sea level. Sajek is a union located in north of Chittagong Hill Tracts and is situated 67 km north-east from Khagrachhari. Basically it is name of a river which separates Bangladesh from India. The river flows into the Karnafuli River in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. Local people compare this place with Darjeeling, India. Weather is excellent.
The main ethnic minorities on the valley are Chakma, Marma, Tripura, Pankua, Lushai and Sagma. Bamboo makes most of the houses. Women seem to be more involved in economic activities here. Tea stalls, food joints and roadside marketplaces are dominated by women. People in general are gentle, welcoming and friendly. Picking fruits and vegetables early in the morning is a major trade here.
