Swedish pop star Robyn made a surprise visit at Red Bull Music Festival in New York while the show was going on, reveals details about her upcoming new solo album with the full version of anticipated track ‘Honey’.
During a surprise DJ set at the Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, Robyn unveiled the official cut of “Honey,” along with an explosive live performance of “Love Is Free” with New York-based rapper Maluca.
Earlier in the evening, Robyn played an early demo of Honey during a talk at New York’s Museum of Modern Art as part of the Red Bull Music Festival, but she saved the finished article for the Brooklyn Bowl crowd.
“I started on my own, in my home studio, listening to music that I love, dancing and listening to beats,” while talking about the new album, said Robyn, “the new album has much more production work on my end, but I wanted to flesh it out a bit on my own before bringing other people into the process”.
Her appearance reportedly ended with a dance-off to 2010 track ‘Call Your Girlfriend’, which saw the winner being invited on stage.
“It’s a good version,” she said “It becomes more important to get it to a place where I made it to what I wanted it to be”.
