The Christmas Feast was a little slice of festive fun tucked away in one of the city’s best areas.
A great way to start December, the market offered all the best bits of Brum. There was an impressive variety of food stalls and carts – truly a festive feast! The rise of Birmingham’s street food scene has become one of the city’s greatest attributes and it was wonderful to see a Christmas twist on this! It’s hard to know how people chose between juicy burgers from Patty Freaks, or beautiful BBQ meats from Low’n’Slow. There were sweet treats for those after a sugar kick, including waffles from The Bourneville Waffle Co, and a variety of homemade cakes inside the craft market.
A cocktail van was the perfect addition to the event, selling winter themed tipples such as Mulled Wine and Hot Apple Rum. (An unfortunate case that these drinks ran out before the end of the event, but a nod to the popularity of them!)
Digbeth was an obvious home for this event, not only is the area characterised by street food haven Digbeth Dining Club, it’s also synonymous with the city’s artists. The craft market inside the Christmas Feast showcased Birmingham’s creativity, with stalls of handmade jewellery, prints, decorations, and clothes. What better place to see companies like Punks and Chancers, selling ‘Yes Bab’ t-shirts, than in the heart of Birmingham.
There was a cosy atmosphere, and a community feel to the event; the real essence of Birmingham. Hearty food, good drink, and all with the canal right at your feet.
