Resident Evil TV Series Reportedly in Progress with Netflix

The hit action horror franchise movie “Resident Evil” is reportedly headed to television as Resident Evil scripted Series which is in works with Netflix.
Believed to be a global Netflix original, the series is set to broaden the Resident Evil world, as well as expanding on the existing mythology which is set to keep the original premise and will look at the workings of the Umbrella Corporation and a new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.
This film series, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and starring his wife Milla Jovovich, first arrived way back in 2002, and became progressively more unhinged over the course of five sequels with one-word subtitles like Afterlife and Retribution.
While this language certainly makes it sound as though the Resident Evil Netflix series is set in the same universe as the film franchise, that has yet to be confirmed.
As the show is still lacking a showrunner and is apparently in the early stages of development, the concrete details are understandably scarce at the time of this writing.
Since the last release of the movie sequel “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter” in 2016, Constantin Film brass have discussed plans to reboot the franchise, including as a TV series which last month, end up hiring Johannes Roberts to write and direct a potential feature Resident Evil reboot with a new cast.
The zombie apocalypse franchise — which was inspired by a 1996 game — has been around since 2002, with six movies under its belt with an upcoming reboot also planned.
In other news from the franchise, Resident Evil 2’s full-blown remake to mark 20 years since the ground-breaking game’s release has just been released.
